@melonhead82 the only british ranks that CGG follow are Guardsmen(pte) and colour sergeant(warrant officer)

I think I prefer the Canadian drums than the British ones, they sound more "war like" than our's. Unless of course you look at the Royal Marines, which just scare the crap out of anyone.

Ah, I see. I know the same ranks between the Commonwealth countries, I was just thinking the CGG would follow a British House Hold Division style.

@melonhead82 in practice, yes, but in reality no. You see they will call the rank by the british name, out of respect for traditions, but its really the Canadian rank. For example:

Private (regardless of hooks) would be Guardsman or Musician

Corporal (two hooks) is Corporal

Master Corporal is distinctively canadian but would equate to Lance Sgt

Sgt=Sgt

WO = Colour Sgt (in canada)

and so on...

True, thats in the standard Army, but doesn't the Canadian Grenadier Guards follow the British style ranks?

actually in canada, private has a number of classifications. Private no hook is an untrained private and therefore would be considered enlisted personnel. Private with a hook is a trained private and has rank.

I'm not denying that, all I'm saying is Private is an enlisted personnel, Lance Corpral is a positioned rank, elegated authority to supervise the enlisted personnel.
