I'm sorry for making this as long as it is and I may be saying this a bit late, but many moons ago I made a promise to someone that I'd drop whatever game I was playing the day that the coming of an English version of TalesWeaver was apparent... and as you can probably guess, it finally happened, albeit late, but as the old saying goes, it's better later than never, and a promise is a promise, as they say. I wouldn't want to go back on my word. November 1st, 2010, eTW is enters beta. I think I can die happy now...
It was around late spring or early summer of 2003 when I was introduced by a friend of mine to TalesWeaver, which was a Nexon Korea game that had just entered its early beta stages. I consider TalesWeaver the first real MMORPG I've ever played. Unfortunately it went P2P eventually at some point in its full release, which was very saddening, so a number of us ended up playing the test server, which would get wiped a lot too. Still, with the game being in Korean, basically none of us could comprehend it, yet it was still enticing. Moreover to our chagrin, there are some koreans who have a grudge against english speakers and that can show itself in the game in a few forms.
Between the hopping between different MMORPGs, from time to time I'd end up being drawn back to TW, despite being lost in translation. At some point I switched from Korean TalesWeaver to Japanese TalesWeaver. Though not quite as up to date on things, it was at least more comprehensible to me than kTW and the natives were more hospitable to english. On top of that, Nexon Japan has a totally awesome development team and actually has a lot of stuff you don't find in the Nexon Korean versions of games. More recently the foreign kTW and jTW have started to IP Ban out of countries, making it very difficult to get on due to trying to use a proxy for an overseas game being so unstable and making you lag or disconnect profusely.
If you want to look into eTW, the website is http://tales.gamengame.com/ and on that note you might want to look at http://talesweaver.org/, which is a TW fansite/mini-database that's been around for about as long as I've known about TW. No, there is no eTW wiki yet, but there is a jTW wiki at http://talewiki.com/talewiki.php?
I've been on the Anomarad server in kTW, the Anomarad server in jTW, and now the Anomarad server in eTW, through some bizarre coincidence also. If you want to come find me, then look for my screen name, which is Loneliest. If you want to join my club, then look for Anomaly, although the room we have left may be limited, so be quick! Way back in my kTW days the first club I was ever in was called Anomaly, so I felt it was natural to revive it in honor of that, plus I love the name and all.
I don't have any regrets, since I've done plenty already. For seven years - and I'm not exaggerating that length of time - I've waited for this to happen, as have some I've met in TW who I've known for up to half a decade. It's been fun, guys, and I'll never forget the experiences in Mabi. Have a good life! Cosmic Out. Sayonara.
P.S. This video is the TalesWeaver Episode 2 Opening Trailer. The song is "You are my light". The lyrics are sung by TRAX. The song is composed by Park jee hoon(JIMMie - one of the TW composer). Normally both the trailer and the song are only about half of this length and the lyrics are in korean or japanese. I halved the framerate and just used the full version of the english version of the song over it, since there is no abbreviated version of the song from anywhere I could find. I know for sure that the song doesn't match the frames now, but oh well Lol.
Hey cosmic, Cryosite here. Message me? :o Or will I be forced to track you down in TW to talk?
