  • for request i made these really nice request sheets for song request with my company name on them and pass it around on a clipboard with a pen . works great and looks more professional than an ordinary notepad

  • That's not a bad idea at all. Years ago, I use to have "Request Cards" that had a perferated tear line with a business card attatched.

  • is that what you use as cd players?

  • I use to. These days (if you watch my videos) you'll see that I use the Denon DN-D4500. I bought it when it first came out about 2 years ago.

  • ah nice, thats exactly what i wanted to know, thank you! i guess you learn alot from talking to the couple as well, right? about what kind of music they want.

  • Hey it's my pleasure. If there is anything else you would like to know, please just ask. I'll do as many videos as needed to make sure you are good and ready!

  • Is that an Ed Grimley Doll? I am SO jealous!

  • I'm wondering how many of you use a 2 handed approach to mixing, I can't do it any other way. I've seen the 1 hand method so many times and I have no idea how you can pull that off. Brian, maybe you did that so the camera could catch everything, ?? Sometimes at an "ice cold" outro you can use a little digital delay or echo and bring down the fader fast and let the echo ring through the effects send for a little more drama, great way to end a fast set to go into a slow set or to start yacking

  • If you're dealing with taking requests and maybe music lists and such a laptop is a great tool, older ones will do fine with normal text files. You'll never run out of paper.

  • that is a great video brian

  • Oh god I still do that today sometimes ^^

  • Wow - I used to do that when I did school gigs in High School.. Used to tear apart my dad's stereo stealing his carver amps and dennon CD decks.. wow - blast from the past... and I'd get screamed at every time!

So is that a radio mix or a slam mix when you go from a hard stop track?

  • cold endings always seem like you did something wrong, like hit the wrong button and the song stopped. i can't really think of any time to do that and mean to do it, lol well for cheese music, if your mixing,,, thats another story...

  • Hi brian Dan here from cornwall uk.

just wondering how you typically start a 4 hour gig - what tends to get ppl going when the age range is from 18-70!!! Would u start with the older lot of younger ones or just random? Pls help cos i get these kinda bookings and its hard work!!!

  • I have used the pad and pen for years. Tons of requests can come very fast and some people are just difficult to understand especially when the music is up. But many times for smaller events I will take the requests verbally so I don't appear antisocial. One benefit of the pad is that I can look back weeks, months, and even years to see what was popular with a group at a certain time.
