The Steve Lawrence comment is complete, insightful, and unimprovable. (Lawrence, by the way, a tremendously successful singer that I've never cared much for as a singer, knows comedy: Witness his performance in the Blues Bros. movies.)

Beavis and Butthead bear no relation to being a nerd. You could argue I have no culture, that my tastes are juvenile, that I watch too much TV. But a nerd? You must not know what the word means.

You make it too easy. I knew that would be your response. If you think there's something wrong with quoting Beavis and Butthead, you have no understanding of the relevance or importance of popular culture. B&B were the greatest cultural commentators of their time. Which is why you would defend Robin Williams. Robin Williams was ALREADY a hack back in 1990 when B&B was on!
Anyway, for one who thinks Robin Williams is a great talent to look down on me is a great compliment.
