Gever Tulley, founded the Tinkering School based on the idea that kids are competent and they like to learn. With the understanding that kids are not "recipe learners," but instead like to make things, Tulley decided to let them do just that. By giving children the freedom to build everything from boats, to carts, to tree houses, he found that if you focus on engaging children first, education quickly follows.
