You couldn't me more wrong about that. Countries with restrictive gun laws have the most violence, generally speaking. You can even see that trend in local municipalities, like Chicago and Washington DC. Whenever those cities did their handgun bans, violent crime actually rose dramatically.
Imagine you're a professional criminal/burglar . You can either rob a home in Chicago where home owners are less likely to be armed, or rob a home in Kennisaw, GA, where gun ownership is mandatory.
