It's called the most invasive medical procedure -- a hemicorporectomy. The patient is cut in half to save their life. Developed after World War II to treat catastrophic injuries, the first surgery was done in 1960.

Only 15 people who have undergone the rare procedure are still alive. Among them, a fiercely independent woman from Kentucky, who now calls Mechanicville home. Everyone knows her as Angel.

  • Hello i'm the son of her . and i want to thank you for all the nice things said

  • ILLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

  • Like, "radical bottomotomy" would be a more correct term for this procedure. It's not a bilaterally symmetric half that's removed, but rather, it's the entire bottom that's removed. That being said, even though you have had a radical bottomotomy, you're gorgeous. You go, girl!

  • I tough it was going to be a vertical cut.
