One of the most famous lute piece, by John Dowland, the Lachrimae Pavan, a monument of music, here I play the arrangement made by Jamie Holding (with some minor changes I made).
Jamie's tab in his e-book of Dowland's pieces, a must have !

Quote from Jamie's page :
Dowland was possibly the greatest composer of the time, and certainly the most famous. His music spread accross Europe and acheived great fame. Even today his music is widely loved.

This book contains 18 of his varied and beautiful compositions, giving you a taste of this eminent renaissance composer. I have also included not only a biography of the composer and information on the lute, but also information on ornamenting and notes on every piece in the book.

Of Dowland's many works I have included pieces ranging from the catchy and merry tunes of Orlando Sleepeth and Mistress White's Thing to the rich beauty of Dowland's midnight to the meloncholy masterpiece of Dowland's most famous work, the Lachrimae Pavan.
end of quote.

  • Val, I've been a fan for a while - haven't checked in recently but stumbled onto Rob McKillop playing Uke the other day and now this - what's going on here? I attended an open mike in my hometown the other night and there were 5 ukeleles! (Apparently there was a get-together nearby, one fellow was from Italy...and I'm in San Francisco) I've always loved Led Ka'apana on uke, but this looks viral and I think Uketube is behind it....I might actually....break down and....No! Don't say it!

    Merci all

  • @pfalcon27

  • Je note que ta main droite a la même position que pour le luth . Tu as surement du réduire l'harmonie ,mais l'essentiel est là !*****Le son est trés beau .Joues tu sans les ongles ? J.C.

Look for the Dowland's 18 pieces e-book, on Jamie's website... Hete it is ;-)

  • Please can you send me scores? I couldn't find it on that website :/

  • @TottyHensh61

Many renaissance and baroque pieces are nice on the uke. Look for Jamies Holding, Wilfried Welti and Rob McKillop arrangements...

  • Je le pense ,car elle conserve son caractére et sa beauté quel que soit l'instrument ,et il est rassurant de savoir que l'on peut également utiliser des techniques différentes avec un beau résultat à l'arrivée. J.C.
