Transitioning to natural hair is a journey. Finding your way will take a lot of trial and error. This is my second journey and Im finding it more difficult this time than before. The regimen and products that works for one person may not work for you. Be patient. The longer you transition, the more frustrated you may become. Hang in there if you dont want to BC (Big Chop) right away. Experiment with different regimens to see what works for you. But try not to become a product junkie like me.

  • I saw the Avalon Organics shampoo at this health food store and online at walmart but I was kind of skeptical about getting it because I wasnt sure if it would dry my hair out. I want to try it though. I have EXTRA DRY skin, scalp and hair

  • Be sure to do a pre-poo before you use it, especially since your hair and scalp is so dry. Try mixing a VO5 moisturizing conditioner with extra virgin olive oil and honey for a pre-poo. You can use equal amounts of each. Leave it on for at least an hour. Your hair will thank you. And be sure to deep condition too. Try Elasta QP DPR-11. DPR stands for Deep Penetrating Remoisturizer.

  • Oh okay Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. I do have one more question, what type of shampoo do you recommend?? Im not even sure where to start. I was to get the organix coconut milk shampoo or shea butter one.

  • Sorry I'm late replying. Organix Coconut Milk shampoo is a good product because it's sulfate-free. Elasta QP Conditioning shampoo is better in my opinion because it's pH balanced and sulfate-free...and it's cheaper than Organix shampoos. Being pH balanced, it brings moisture balance to your hair.

  • I luv this video. Very informative. Although i've been au naturel for 3.5 years, im new to pre-pooing. it's definitely something my hair likes. also, i luv the music u used. who's the artist?

  • This is a jazz rendition of Mystikal's "Bouncing Back (Bumpin' Me Against the Wall)" from the "Hidden Beach Recording Presents: Unwrapped, Vol. 2" CD. That was a mouthful, lol. Hidden Beach has a few volumes of jazz artists remaking hip hop songs.

  • This is wonderful info!! Thanks.

  • You are extremely knowledgable on the subject... it's good to see videos where people actually know what they are talking about! I hate "moisturizing and sealing" videos where women inform viewers they can moisturize and seal with oils
