  • Nice video but very short. I am not so sure about this new technique though. Sure, if you are a former WC mogul skier, with strong legs and perfect balance skiing on those moguls far apart and perfect conditions, you can hold up with carving but as soon as things get bigger, deeper, tighter, steeper, and you are a weekend skier, you better forget about carving techniques on moguls.

  • This technique works very well for recreational skiers on any mogul run, but it takes practice. To learn the SVMM style, you should ski slow on beginner/intermediate moguls. The DVD, A Weekend Warrior's Guide to Real Moguls, Expert Runs, explains how to do this and how to practice the techniques on groomed slopes. It will actually help make you a better skier in all conditions, on all types of runs.

  • The moguls in this video can be found at Sun Valley Idaho.

  • Its not about the pivot, the skid, or the carve. Its about the hottest new mogul skiing technique, SVMM. Google Weekend Warrior's Guide to Expert Skiing to learn more.

  • Joey Cordeau's the Master. I'd believe anything he says about bump skiing. It always amazes me when "skiers" dis other skiers about where & how they ski. I admire the skiers who can do it all--powder, park, pipe, bumps, aerials--it's all good!

  • If you can't ski moguls at full speed, then hey, you can't claim to be an expert skier.

  • Right across the tops WFO. Or jump one or two at a time is fun.

  • Ok for soft small moguls like those-of course you can ski them like you're on piste-but what if you want speed control on steep icy moguls-you have to use the back of the mogul for speed reduction, and with this method there's not enough ski/snow contact. Messy.

  • josmuckatella The skiers in the video ages range from 56,55,23,25, and no knee or back issues. They ski over 100 days for over 38 years.

  • pugetking good ? don"t know why they fight it tooth and nail. They should be jumping on the wagon instead of off.

  • @cordeauski Seems to me SVMM is just good basic ski tech using "proper weight distribution". Getting the ski to work the way its designed, not hurting yourself

and having fun skiing! Wonder why more people haven't come to the same conclusion?

  • pugetking The technique to slow down by hitting the mogul would be Msnet's way it is called speed control by Absorbing and extending. SVMM uses A & E to get the skis back on the snow and yes then carves there turns to control speed.

  • Way cool skiing! but shouldn't the skier hit the back of the mogul to slow down

    instead of carving the ski?

  • The harder it gets the more technique the skier needs. Unless you like to take a beating by slamming the moguls. It takes a lot of time and practice to ski. Use the technique the skier is practicing. Why in the world would you think that when the run is steeper or the moguls are big and random that the technique would not work? It does............................................................................................................
