These seed hogs would descend on our feeders in mobs and clean us out- the little birds never had a chance

We had these 1 season in NJ back in the mid 80s. It was a massive irruption, We had hundreds at our feeders, what a spectacle!! The hung around for that 1 winter..

The location makes sense. In the east you don't often see EVGRs with a Rhododendron in the background!
