@perfect1150 I agree with everything you said except, "John wasn't always the best or the biggest." Stockton is always the best! I can't see his record on assist and steal ever get surpassed. There are many good players. There are many great players still. There is Stockton, a category of its own.

I grew up in Salt Lake City, watching John from day one, when he started playing for the Jazz.He is "Simply The Best" at the guard position. It was an honor to have watched him play during his career.John and Karl developed a playing style that had never been seen and I don't think will ever be duplicated again.Stockton to Malone,I enjoyed watching you two play basketball.I had a lot of respect for Jerry Sloan and Hot Rod Hundley,I loved to hear Hot Rod call the Jazz games. He made it fun to watch.

he kept himself at peak condition and had the discipline to study the game and his opponents. Was always unselfish to a fault plus the team management never surrounded him with enough talent, but his teams always made the playoffs. he sacrificed his body setting picks against opposing centers and forwards in almost every play. With his shooting touch, unparalleled court vision, large hands, speed, and timing, he was able to overcome his size disadvantage. The best true NBA point guard ever.

ultimate team player

one of the best athletes ever played the game a true lion heart and i am a bulls fan since 1993

John Stockton is the perfect example for all professional athletes. He did his job, fought hard and never gave up. John wasn't always the best or the biggest, but he had more heart and desire than anyone. He never complained or argued about money with the team. He understood that he was the lucky one to get to play basketball for a living. Most other athletes these days only want more money and are pissed if they don't get it.

I was at the retirement ceremony in the Delta Center with my best friend Matt. I remember it like it was yesterday. After all seats filled...they turned off the lights and Hot Rod called out, "Now for the last time ever, point guard out of Gonzaga, #12 John Stockkkkkkkkkkkkton. And then everybody stood up....and they played "Simply the best." I cried like a sissy, but never turned to look at Matt, neither did he. About 4 hours later he asked me if I cried....I said yeah....he's all, "Me too!"
