@AlloJonesMusic Recently I ran 4:44 where I went out 66...obviously did not run negative split. A few weeks later, I ran 4:47 where I went out 72 and did run negative split. I don't think it depends on what kind of shape you're in. I think it all depends on your pace. Personally, I think in a short race like the mile, it is better to go out quick and hang on rather than go out slow and try to negative split. Legs are more fresh in the beginning than at the end.
