The Children's First NGO (non-governmental organization) is an organization that was started by Dr. Nane Oskanian. As a pediatrician by trade, Dr. Oskanian has a passion for children that is clearly seen through her various charitable endeavors.

The Children's First NGO was given a building by that is approximately 5,800 square feet adjacent to an elementary school in the second village outside of the Armenian city of Dilijan. The facility was partially renovated, but a proper heating system was not installed at that time. As a result, a fair amount of damage to the plumbing system occurred during the winter of 2009.

The scope of work for the repairs on the facility includes the installation of a proper heating system, the replacement of some pipes, cosmetic repairs on walls, completion of the electrical system and the installation of a kitchen. The approximate budget to complete the repairs is $20,000.

Once completed, the facility will serve two very important missions. Each day, The Center will serve more than 125 children in two programs: A day care/pre school for needy children up to 5 years of age; and an after school program which will provide at risk children with homework assistance, mentoring and several after school classes. These two programs are extremely important as children in this village are both underserved and poverty stricken. Once the facility is operational, its staff is certain it can raise the necessary funds to operate the programs beyond the first year.

In the summer months, the center will operate a camp program for at risk children and orphans from throughout Armenia. The Lori Region and the Dilijan area in particular is very beautiful and picturesque and this facility will serve as an excellent location for a children's camp. The facility can host up to 75 childen at one time for a camp program. This interaction is quite important for both village and city-based children. The total yearly operation budget for the pre-school, after school program and camp is $22,960

TOTAL NEEDED FOR REPAIRS AND ONE YEAR OPERATIONAL BUDGET $42,960. To donate, visit www.paros-foundation.org
