Serpent Amazing Grace Video

This instrument is called a serpent. It is a modern fiberglass reconstruction of the type of wooden instrument that was invented by Edme Guillaume in 1590. This is the forerunner to the tuba and was used that way in bands and church services till the invitation of the tuba in 1835 but even so its still used to day. I am one of 6 known people on the east cost to own one. (side note in 2010 it will have been in use for 410 years)

Nobody can criticize. This instrument must be a bitch to play and he sounds fine for someone basically playing an elongated didgeridoo.

@Tageine in addition to which I would say they have never tried playing a Serpent. Those things are a whole lot different to play than modern brasswinds with their nice easy valves guaranteeing every note plays easily.
