As a bass tech I have come across hundreds of copies but know this:There are so many Japanese basses from the 70's untill like 84 that are as good or better than the Fender they are copying. I bought a Memphis p-bass japanese made about 2 yrs ago for about 100.00$,Its so close to the original p-bass that all the parts from on to the other fit perfectly,The neck was precisely the same dimensions to a T! Hard to find now that everyone knows about the japan imports but worth the effort.
