YOU WERE MINE ~ The Fire Flies ~ 1959 ~ Ribbon Records (New York).
The lead vocals are handled by Richie Adams ( birth name: Richard Ziegler), as was the norm for the pre-1961 Fire Flies. Adams was a solo act by 1961, becoming both a solo singer & song writer. YOU WERE MINE was The Fire Flies biggest success, strange for a song that was only 1:52 long. One of my personal favorites !
YOU WERE MINE was also recorded by Thomas Wayne, who was famous for his recording of TRAGEDY and there was a "answer" song for YOU WERE MINE recorded by The Paulette Sisters called I WAS YOURS.
Richie Adams went on to write well over 300 songs.

Actually, Paul Giacalone wrote both You Were Mine and I Can't Say Goodbye, he's my grandpa and still performing today.

One of my All time Favorites!!! I have sung this song to my daughter since she was a baby. She is 9 now. And she now sings it with me. Thanks so much for posting this wonderful song!
