He was one of the people who re-invented denim in 1967 with the stone wash and, later, with geometrical patterning: Francois Girbaud. After being a hype in the late eighties and early nineties his label is still around. Now, Marithe + Francois Girbaud is being re-invented for the next millennium. It's about back to basics in combination with solid tailoring AND a new, by Girbaud patented, technology: Watt Wash. It's a look generated by laser, which needs only 3% of the water being used for regular denim washing (obviously you knew denim is one of the most polluting textiles in the world). Definitely interesting and we're curious where this will lead denim in the future. The old master talked with CODE about his latest innovation.
