Search Lawrence Krauss AAI 2009. His talk on the origin of the universe is just excellent. He's not only a brilliant scientist, but also a very eloquent speaker.

At some point we all have to have some faith, we can't be rationalism.
As far as Islam goes, they seem to be the worst of all religions; as in violence, oppression and sheer numbers

Typical of a certain type of person to look at what Sam Harris is saying and point fingers, saying he's a kook. What he's basically saying is that whilst an idea is harmless, he won't go out of his way to attack it, especially whilst there are more dangerous ideologies out there which need to be addressed.

He's also saying that he wouldn't dismiss claims out of hand, but would look at evidence before coming to a conclusion.

That's not being irrational.

What's so horrific about that?

Oh - and I don't happen to believe in reincarnation or anything like that. I also don't agree with everything most people say, including Sam Harris, Dawkins, Hitchens, and any other high profile 'atheist' you care to mention.

Well said. I feel the same way, and for Sam to be giving it decent creedance makes me think there might be strong evidence for it.
