@Jamerican28 Similar is Walmart (capitalism). Drove all the other stores out of our area. KMart, Zayres, Ames, Bradlees... all gone.

They're actually getting the ball moving on restoring her. The owner is on board and volunteers cleaned the interior this past summer. This winter the owner is having the asbestos removed so that volunteers can begin on the exterior in the spring, and in a few weeks, there should be giant red and green Christmas displays in the giant arching window areas of the MCS' entrance.

Spring/summer they should have the new wrought-iron decorative security fencing installed. Afterwards, they're planning to instal LED accent lighting, establish power sourcing needed for pumping the basements, and then replacing the windows with high-strength Lexan acrylic glass.

The Free Press ran a story on it recently, and the non-profit overseeing it has a website up -- savemichigancentral /DOT\ com

@preskeel It is sad, but if it goes down that will be the end.
