I'm torn; I like the concept, and it does seem to grow, but all the same the action seems very boring. Getting that it's "turtles all the way doing" is indeed frightening and exciting, but do I want to indulge in it and come back to this feeling in a context where the bullet fighting seems so trivial. In other words; the "macro decisions" seem interesting, but can the same be said about micro decisions, the actual bullet dodging? Am I seeing it from too familiar bullet hell eyes to enjoy it?

those who call it boring are clearly not on drugs right now :P

If you like getting that new purple item loot and a pat on the back text for completing a mission a drooling 3 year old could accomplish.. This game is not for you .. You have to create your own rewards... For me i just like down the rabbit hole for a few hours..

@worId the hype probably has to do with the synth music and retro graphics, both of which i'm a fan... as long as the game is interesting :/

@TheBrianhj It is infinitely boring. I really don't get the hype around this game. It's interesting as an idea, but It really sucks as a game. It should be accessible via a web browser and played for free / ad-supported.

@Firehead03 well played......

This is both boring and funny at the same time.

I figured it's worth a few dollars to support rohrer, I really enjoy hirs design philosophy and I do enjoy looking forward to what zie might be coming up with next even if the games I most enjoyed of rohrer were small games that didn't take as much as 8 months to develop (passage, gravitation, police brutality). Rohrer stirs things up in gaming and is a positive force in making more games that I enjoy.

@AvaAvaneDawn I'm of the same opinion. After you arrive at the point where you 'get it', what keeps your individual actions engaging? Where is the third dimension that finally brings it all together?
But in any case I figure it's worth a few of my dollars. The self-contained design synergy is really quite ingenious.
like the ideas but its a boring game with no reward waiting for you :P

@hypnocSlayer The reward is left up to you. To see how deep you can get; how you well you can sculpt a particular item into an over-powered beast; how you can gimp an enemy by entering it.
It's after you "get it" (like @AvaAvaneDawn stated), the layers begin to strip away and you put it down. It is something fun to experiment with when you're bored and have nothing to do, though.
Try playing it in short bursts.
