This switch was taken out of service as there was a short in the front end POE circuitry. This caused some crazy arcing to occur.

  • I hate this video. I'm the guy that has to repair these units. And seeing the end user making the repair harder to fix makes me want to cry lol. Get one PoE controller down and it shuts all PoE down.

  • @Guitarjammers01 Hah.. This is the only time we did this. However, we are constantly RMA'ing 3550's and 3750's with various issues so taking one out of the lot to play with for 5 minutes isn't too bad :P The 3550 PSU issue was driving us nuts there for a few years. We were having to replace one a week!!!

  • Tr 6418 -15 volts regulator on a thermal-runaway, cheap component layout, No clear manufacturer budget, happens on " Promotions Productions"

  • Well, There's Your Problem!

  • @Guitarjammers01

im the girl than "has to fix all the shit" including broken hardware. i work as admin for 4 months, but somehow, they give me the most f*cked jobs.

i've saw a firework switch just like this (but netgear) and the admin was still expecting i repair it:P

BWT... i have to debug lots of VPNs and Cisco stuff and Cisco support isnt the best =S

in 4 months i've learn 10 times more than in a year of colledge

  • If Cisco used the Silvertel Ag6400 (4-channel PSE controller module) reliability would be higher, and they could also get up to 30W per RJ45 (IEEE802.3at).

  • @dwC4u wahahha, Revenge of the nerds...

  • get crisco not cisco

  • we worship the blue smoke and the plasma arc, we are unworthy

  • @Guitarjammers01 often it is the nature of the tech to lament the end user for

troubleshooting a bad design that fails repeatedly,a production environ

In design and sales the focus of rushing to production hardware and software and mechanicals that should have been proofed on the front end in the production and the post production and field testing

On situ the tech is focused on manufactuing production and up time interface, what experimentation that solves recurrent errors is ok
