This is a fun version. Richard may be having too much fun with the song to nail the ghost like quality of the Clarence Ashley Version. There are other Thompson clips on youtube where he gets into the ghostlike mood of those old folk songs better than on this one... like "She Moved Through the Fair". Oh well, you can't have it all. Still good.
