  • What a treasure to stumble upon. It's always a thrill to hear RT's singular voice against a hypnotic backdrop. Fabulous work by Hudson and Carthy (gotta love the blue 'do, too). Great post, joni36!

  • I love him, his music, his smile. Perfect in my opinion!

  • Up and down , Up and down , that's My head .... I like the tune -- Nice work !!

  • cewl song!!

  • great!! But sadly no banjo!

  • Didn't they use this song in Cold Mountain?

  • does anyone have a tab for this awesome version of the coo coo bird?

  • This is a fun version. Richard may be having too much fun with the song to nail the ghost like quality of the Clarence Ashley Version. There are other Thompson clips on youtube where he gets into the ghostlike mood of those old folk songs better than on this one... like "She Moved Through the Fair". Oh well, you can't have it all. Still good.

  • I go back and watch this periodically. Still gives me chills.

  • Bin doing some researchon "The Coo Coo Bird" and I must say this haunting rendition by Richard T is superb.

  • RT certainly does appear to be having great fun - have loved this song by The Be Good Tanyas - now............ RT has once again captured my heart !
