siding is done!!!!

We have the batons on the two sides but will be re-doing then on the north side to look like the south side... We trimmed out the three bays... that was fun... lots of angles

My father-in-law also did a little trail work... all in all for a crappy rainy day it was pretty productive...

  • This has been a very informative series and I've enjoyed following your progress immensely. I'm learning a lot. Quick question: is the timber treated in any way to protect against the elements?

  • @HD41117 Glad you are enjoying it...

All the lumber that touches the ground is pressure treated... because all the exposed lumber is vertical I could leave to siding un-protected and it would grey in time... but next spring we will be putting a clear stain/protectant... I will be caulking the top of any horizontal trim pieces... should hold up ok...

    thanks for watching

  • great videos, I'm hoping to build a pole barn next year in Chaut. Co., wondering what it cost you and what about permits and inspections, thanks

  • @rayman3668 for us the permitting was very simple... a box drawn on a paper with the dimensions and how far (approx) to the property lines... no inspections... no nothing... they ask us what we think it will cost and thats about it... I think the permit was $35 or something... my Father-in-law paid it...

as to the cost for the project... we are around $2500-$2800 using mostly Amish lumber and roofing...

    Good luck on your project.
