May 5th at the Orange Peel in Asheville NC. Abigail Washburn and surprise guest Bela Fleck enjoy an amazing unplugged Bass solo by Jon Estes. Then something goes terribly wrong. Luckily, Chris Wood of "the Wood Brothers" was backstage, offered his instrument, and he came back out and finished his solo! For a young musician, this will be a night he never forgets.

I haven't had anything quite like this happen (touch wood) but I did have the bridge collapse in the middle of a rehearsal once. Made a hell of a bang and made a few people jump.

We'll count our blessings 'cause if the tail-piece break off it's a life-threatening event, or so my repair person told me after noting mine was cracked!

He said the story goes that one ended up embedded in the opposite wall!

    Anyone heard of that?

Seen the same thing happen while in a case while performing a sub freezing outdoor performance. Heart breaking.

Man, you're lucky that you had the video camera running at least! I had the scroll pop off of my bass last summer in the middle of a solo. It was the ONLY concert that tour that I didn't set up the camera- d'oh!
