Cyndi Lauper has always been a GREAT artist. She's honest, humble and shows wisdom, what else could we receive from her? On the other side, Madonna has shown that she's grown up since she started to raise a family. Although these women have taken different paths throughout their careers, I do appreciate what they represent in terms of gender equality. And what interesting music they've made since the 80's, oh yeah!

@mindinsolitude bullshit, if I saw anyone repeating everything I have done step by step using the same formula I did: my themes, my outfits, my dance moves, my videos and even miming my accent and tone..i'd call it for what it is REDUCTIVE. @caorr Cindy was original, Madonna did her own thing and went where Cindy just couldn't Cindy a better voice but to be honest she kept doing the same songs and her records kept getting weaker not necessarily "deeper" Lady gaga in the other hand is a JOKE who keeps reenacting Madonna's career the way a chimp mimics a human: without purpose or grace.

@jazzaj2003 I agree; Cyndi's music has always had real depth and soul. She's gotten better without compromise or selling out to trends of the music industry. Madonna shock scene was campy and pretentious from the beginning and now that she's older its worn out and the gig is played out. Like you said it's sad for Madonna. Cyndi on the other hand seems to be winning over a new generation with some seriously fresh music!

Love Cyndi, always have. I don't get Madonna and feel a bit sorry for her now her songs and latest song flopped again. Madonna relies on shock tactics to grab headlines to promote her songs. But that's all that she's got and now she's older people really don't want to see her octopus anymore.

Im a huge Madonna fan, I followed her more closely than anyone else BUT I loved all those artists I grew up to, Michael, Prince, Cyndi, Whitney. Screw the "Competitive" side of the industry, at the end of the day its Art, it's Music - it's NOT a competition to see who's better. How many hits you have is irrelevant your still an Artist. Cyndi did it her way and is still making beautiful music today. Theres enough room on your ipod for all Great artists and great music, you dont have to choose.
