Synopsis!
A cavalry outpost in a desert country, where both Comanches and Apaches make frightening enemies, is the domain of bitter Captain Stephen Maddocks, who will never be promoted because of a mistake he once made and has to do with half staff. From arrival Lieutenant Curtis McQuade, a green general's son, finds his veteran commander though and difficult, but eminently experienced and always sadly right in Indian matters. Furthermore McQuade gets into open rivalry with his fellow officers, which he outranks, rivaling for Lt. Thomas Gresham's lady, Tracey Hamilton. Once Maddocks has no other choice then use McQuade against the Indian danger, desert guarding life proves to be a hard school but Curtis a good pupil.
The voiceover was Dick Tufeld, voice of The Robot in Lost in Space "Danger Will Robinson, and before that on radio, the narration voice in Space Patrol. I recall his countless commercials such as "Rice A Roni, the San Francisco treat." And he introduces The Oscars from time to time.

James Warner Bellah! I KNEW it was one of his stories.
"Spanish Man's Grave" is when I first learned of his works. "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon", "Fort Apache" and other John Ford movies were born in Bellah's imagination.
