So what's the answer? India! And it may have come to China during the travels between India and China by China's Greatest Admiral in the 1400s, Zheng He.

GHOST FLEET: THE EPIC VOYAGE OF ZHENG HE - THE GREATEST EXPLORER YOU NEVER HEARD OF.

A Muslim castrated as a young boy in China, this man would still serve his nation with total loyalty. Zheng He:
China's Greatest Admiral who may have discovered America even before Columbus.
A man of peace whose fleet had half the world in his grasp and the other half within easy reach. And a leader whose giant Treasure Fleet suddenly vanished because of a colossal mistake.

600 years ago, China emerges from an age of darkness - with the biggest naval fleet ever assembled. It will forge a new path across unknown oceans, led by a towering Admiral -- 100 years before Columbus. And China will stand as the world's undisputed superpower. But in time, this supreme leader would be brought to an end by a catastrophic decision. What happened?

Join National Geographic photographer Mike Yamashita as he retraces Admiral Zheng He's epic journeys and discover how China's internal struggles turned this Admiral's forces into a ghost fleet, and setback this great nation for hundreds of years.

From the breathtaking opening shots of the African Swahili coast, this film is cinematic celebration of timeless beauty. Medieval Yemeni hilltop towns, ancient martial arts portrayed with balletic artistry, brutal religious piercings and the incomparable majesty of Perahera, all contribute to a pallet of rarely equaled cultural diversity.

From the eerie castration of the young hero to his final faltering steps in the Forbidden City as his enemies close in like vultures around carrion, the historical recreations about the life of Zheng He are executed with the grandeur and distance of a renaissance painting.

In tracing the voyages of the great fleet and its enigmatic leader, 'Ghost Fleet' brings the past alive through ...

  • idot, KUNG FU invented on orders of emperor HUANGDI 2600 years B.C, in CHINA, KARATE is from OKINAWA, JAPAN, KERALA is from INDIA, AHATI and LUTTE are from WESTERN AFRICA. CAPOERO is BRAZILIAN AFRICAN, so every place has its martial arts even FRANCE had SAVATE in old days

  • martial arts originated from Egypt.Just look on the walls of Egypt

  • here is the real history in simple words

MARTIAL ARTS BEGAN AS 'KALARI' BY BODHIDHARMAN IN INDIA.

THEN HE WENT TO CHINA SPREADING THE ART.

CHINESE MADE USE OF IT VERY WELL AND MADE IT KUNG FU. THEY WORSHIP BODHIDHARMAN AS GOD.

BOTH THESE ARTS WILL BE ALMOST SAME AS EACH OTHER.

source:me, practitioner and teacher. kalari ,shaolin kung fu , etc.. thank you..

  • martial arts originated from egypt to india then china,HA!!! YAH!!!!!

  • Should be thankful to the Chinese for preserving that history (Bodhidharma), because the Indians had forgotten that episode.

  • bullshit :D kung fu is by chines you die bitches.

  • India is a great nation and culture!

  • @shobyms

No one is arguing that he wasn't a real person. That text simply says that he was an Indian monk who came to China and taught Buddhism. It also says he took several disciples including Daoyu and Huike. There is no mention of Yoga. Kalaripayattu, Kung Fu, or even any "Exercises" in this or any other book until the story of him teaching the Emaciated Shaolin monks secret exercises appears in the Yi Jin Jing which is a known forgery written in 1624, 11 centuries after his time!

  • First, you are talking about current martial art schools, but it was not the same in the past while Buddhism was predominantly practised in China.Second, there were no Kung Fu related Martial arts in China, that is for sure and you have no evidence to support it. The other Martial arts existed in China, had no structural relationship with Kung fu. Here, you need a comparitive study, not a youtube study. Then, you can not call anyone ignorant and arrogant when you need more illumination.

  • @shobyms ...FYI, just so you wouldn't look too ignorant, not all Chinese martial arts including KungFu, have a direct connection or relationship with any temple. The big KungFu schools in China don't even teach Buddhism at all. If you're assuming that there where no martial arts in China before Buddhism, then you're being ignorant & arrogant.
