Lemieux is the poster boy for anti-preferential treatment, especially up to his first retirement. Opposing players could only stop him by cheating.
Refs tolerated the cheating, league officials supported the refs. Cheating spread like a pandemic and pretty soon every NHL game turned into a wrestling match. It was boring. People tuned out.
The league ended up shutting down for a year to fix itself. That wouldn't have happened If they called the game right in the first place.
I don't see how Skrudland is at all like Crosby. You obviously can't be talking about 66 because Skrudland is getting run and even flinches at Lemieux.
Don't worry, people like Peter Bondra and Michal Pivonka were "protected" by the Refs as well.
But, feel free to ignore that when you look for excuses as to why the Penguins continue to own the Capitals.
watching this is just like watching crosby... he runs his mouth and gets saved by the refs and no one can do anything about it because hes the face of buttmans NHL
He sort of acted. But you can't say he wasn't acting because he was frustrated with all the no-calls of holding and hooking. Although I look back at a lot of games in the 90's, and get frustrated just watching them. He was right to retire when he did...the game became a slow romp through the mud.
If you're talking about me, I never said Super Mario was a pansy. He was a hell of a player, and was tougher rather than weaker. You do have to admit that he acted a little though in his career, and especially in this series.
Clutching, grabbing, holding, the trap...nothing helps talented players excell less than those things. Way to stifle the Pens in that series, Panthers. Way to frustrate one of the greatest players in the world and make a bunch of youtubers think he's a pansy.

Oh Mario, you're so tough. I agree, I hate how Mario acted so much in this series.
