Amtrak's Rainbow Era San Francisco Zephyr arrives at Sacramento. This train has since been renamed The California Zephyr. I believe this was shot in 1971.

  • Check out my video of the California zephyr in Sacramento, you will see that the place hasn't changed much

  • Well, the number of trains has certainly changed, as there was only one tri-weekly train at that time. I will be taking the Zephyr to Sacramento next year so I guess I will be able to see for myself.

  • Just incase u didnt know that the San Francisco Zephyr was first named the California Zephyr, but due to copyrights from the Western Pacific and the continuation part of the Rio Grade's it had to be changed to prevent law suits and confusion with passenger service. By 1983, the when the Rio Grande dicontinued passenger service for good and the bankruptsy of the WP, the train was renamed the California Zephyr. I just thought sharing this.

Its awsome that u put this up!!! great video!!!!

  • I did some quick research which verified that this train actually is Amtrak's California Zephyr. I did not know this, but then again, I was only five at the time.

  • Hey sweet shots! I got a few shots like Trainboy94 from that area. The trains don't look as cool though.

  • Not the train, the location.
