This was the tenth race if the 2009 Formula 1 Season. The race had the mumps because of Felipe Massa's horror-accident during the Saturday qualifying. Massa's head was hit by a spring from Rubens Barrichello's car. He was airlifted to the AEK Hospital in Budapest, and operated. The brazilian driver suffered skull and eye injuries, and after the operation, he was sedated. Back to the race, Fernando Alonso got his first pole since 2007, and first for Renault since 2006, but the team made a huge mistake, when the right front wheel came off frome the car, after boxing. From this time, the "resurrected" Mclaren win with Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkönen in th only one Ferrari, finished second, and Mark Webber for Red Bull got the 3rd place. Sebastian Vettel was out because of colliding Kimi, and the other world championship contender Jenson Button finished only 7th. Jaime Alguersuari changed Sebastien Bourdais in the Toro Rosso, and became the youngest-ever driver in Frmula 1 history. He finished 15th, just ahead of his team-mate Sebastien Buemi.
