I doubt Switchfoot would ever sing about their political ideas, it's not who they claim to be. And I have yet to see them write a song that goes against who they claim to be.

This song can be interpreted as political, but it's actually talking about how Heaven is a land without borders, politicians, an agenda, and the only one really trustworthy enough to be pledging allegience to.
