After the Promise
Elmer Jackson is a carpenter in a small Californian town in the 1930s. Struggling to bring up 4 young boys after the death of his wife, he is horrified when the Government (citing trumped-up charges of parental neglect) places the boys into various foster homes and institutions, unaware of the abuse that boys would then be subjected to. The conditions imposed by the court and the difficulties caused by the Depression make Jackson's determined and vigorous quest to find his boys extremely difficult.

Oh my God, ive been trying to find this film for a very loooooooooong time. thanks so much for posting this poignant film. i saw it once in my life only, when i was in grade school in the philippines and there was this late weekend movie specials and i vaguely remember the title. all i know was that i really wept while and after seeing this film. at my young age then the impact of this movie was so tremendous that i never forgot about it. thanks thanks many thanks

Just bought this on dvd, i suddenly had the need to watch it again as my dad has just died. This film is one of the few times i saw him cry, i should say sob. His family were the most important thing in the world to him. The thought of this happening to someone broke his heart. R.I.P DAD.

This movie was a window into the soul of my father-- This is only but a small portion of what really happened. I will say this, Mark Harmon portrayed my grandfather perfectly! My grandpa died in 1984, and it was if Mark knew him--so chilling. I am the daughter of the one they called Ellis, however, Ellis was a twin to my father, Elmer. Ellis was never really portreyed in this movie as the thought it would be confusing to the story. There is much more devistation than this movie could show---

now this was a movie. i seen this movie as a child once until now i never knew its name but i only remembered that mark harmon played the father. doing research on the internet helped me to locate this film. i would like to get this on dvd. i thought i would be the only one into this film it was a heartwarming story. thanks for the download.

@jersymon you and me both...jesymon...I never was the same..., seriously. as strange as it seems...I really didn't think the production knew how powerful this movie is...it took a life of it's own. If they release this to a movie....it would go straight to number one...it's SOO MOVING.
