James Boyce and Ben Port debate immigration reform on MSNBC, and Contessa Brewer and Ben Port are shocked and appalled at the mere suggestion that racist elements in the Republican party are stonewalling the chances for real reform.
It's not rediculous. Just watch any of the right wing shows or listen to the radio shows and that's exactly what they say. Round em up and throw em out. Either be a man and say no we're not gonna do that or admit that is a segment of the Republican party because it is. Nothing wrong with pointing that out.
A large amount of republicans are definitely racist. From my own experience during the 4 months I was a black republican (before my disgust overcame me and I found out what the republican party was really about), I discovered that there are people out there who would like nothing better than to reduce people to near slavery, if not slavery outright.
Racism is a powerful rallying point among the ignorant and hateful. That just happens to be the core of the republican party.
First, the "12 Million" number is made up. It's always alluded to as "estimated"...and that is the high end of any estimation.
Second, stop calling people "illegal", or talk about "making them legal". The main problem with immigration regulation is the back-log of status determinations...people are waiting for the paperwork, they AREN'T HIDING OUT!
Absolutely; it's about racist attitudes: Scapegoating others in our midst.
Wow. Just wow. Brewer and conservative guest feign shock - shock I tell you! -- over the possibility that the GOP might have a wee problem with racism amongst it's core rank and file. All I got to say is -- tell me how many minority Republicans are there in the House and Senate? Show me the last piece of legislation that a Republican wrote or the Republican party wholly sponsored that dealt with rectifying racial injustice? And I'm a pasty white guy from the midwest so I'm just asking.
I'll tell you why Americans are tuning out, which isn't true... the only people they're tuning out are the likes of you. Thus, Obama was elected with enormous support! Oh, and if I remember correctly, the GOP COMPLETELY CONTROLLED OUR GOVERNMENT. Why did they allow corporations to get away with hiring illegals if they were so gung ho? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

Can we deflate the rhetoric, please?

Boyce hits it right on the head...how rude.
The GOP hates to be called out for the racist dog-whistle maestros that they obviously are.
And what's up with the lip-glodded, right wing metrosexual spokesman?
That's some pritty mouth he gots there.
