@AikiRonin21 When the 2 have identical stories u ask? They're most likely thugs who have done this before & have a rap sheet. My background compared to theirs, I don't think there is going to be any doubt in the cops mind who was the agressor, especially when I tell the cops they approached me & demanded money. 2 thugs aproach u & u let them go first, u lose. When u identify a threat u take it out period. Rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6. Thanks 4 your comment.

@AikiRonin21 After a physical confrontation be sure to talk to witnesses and tell them your side of the story, and be sure to be the first to give a statement to the police. To further influence witnesses, Instinctive Systems recommends the open hands method as shown in our videos.

My teacher is a 7th degree black belt in traditional Korean TKD and has a black belt in 16 different other styles. He's been in martial arts for over 40 yrs, and studied under Master Seiyu Oyata and I agree with you 100%. He teaches defense against multiple attackers about the same way you do. Most I've found on here is defense against after you're already getting a beating. We actually did this almost same technique during our last class. Good job and keep up the good work!

On the debate of whether to go first or not i'm on the side of the instructor -- you must take action and be decisive; if that means acting first when you sense two guys are going to attack you then so be it! I think it's also important to note that you should not show weakness when talking to them.

Self defense by law does not require you to be hit first. Self defense requires all means of reasonable escape have been attempted, and the fear or threat of danger is imenent.
As for the weapon, a two on one justifies it. The amount of damage two individuals can do to a single person, especially if held or knocked out, is catastrophic. A two on one is a huge threat, and the possibility of death resulting is applicable.

@SelfDefenseAwareness cont the only time bringing a weapon into it is legal is when you are in imminent danger of death. or you feel that your in danger. the law states you cant just bring a knife out to show them you mean bussiness. but by all means practice what you want. but im warrning you you ever bring a knife into a fight in this type of a situation your going to see its much harder to prove self defence it when you throw the first punch and pull a knife out
-
@SelfDefenseAwareness cont what i was trying to point out is that in specific situations bringing a knife into it is legal and warrented but if your in a bar and 2 guys square off against you and its apparent they are going to fight and all of a sudden you deck a guy in the nuts and use him as a shield and then pull a knife out. those men will be able to press charges for assault with a deadly weapon you may be found innoccent but that is highly unlikely cont

@SelfDefenseAwareness i was never saying dont fight back i was saying dont throw the first punch and do not what so ever bring a knife into because you will and i mean you will go to prison.the laws are not built to protect you in these situations they are built to contain and control. we live in a day and age that someone can break into your house and break there hip and sue you. when it is there fault we live in a day and age that a martial artist can be accused of deadly intent cont
Well said Kyle.

I understand what U R saying, but try to understand where I am coming from on this. If you let the street thug throw the first punch, especially when there R 2 of them, U will lose. Every street tough knows, if he goes first he wins, because he puts U on defense. U can't take the chance & think U can overpower these guys after they have already started 2 kick the crap out of U. Your explanation works 4 the courts but it doesn't help U in the street. U need 2 take care of U 2 get home safely...

Basically what you're saying is (take your chances and hope their intent isn't to kill you). Sorry, I don't give thugs the benefit of the doubt. Maybe in Germany you're screwed but in America depending on the situation and the state you live in, I'll take my chances. Plus, I can't think about what the law is going to do to me and still successfully defend myself, It's one or the other. I rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

@SelfDefenseAwareness thats the problem is that it doesnt matter if its self defence in many states and many cases people still get charged because of how much damage they inflicted such as a boxer who was attacked at knife point so he faught back and broke the guys cheek bones he got charged with felony assault

@houseofaction I'm sorry, I mean no offense, but I just don't understand your reasoning. Whether you realize it or not, what your saying is, don't ever defend yourself because if you do you may hurt the bad guy. Sorry, but if my life is on the line it's either him or me, and I choose me. It will be a cold day in hell before I let some criminal try to hurt me and I don't fight back. I guess we have different views on this.

Thanks for your comment, but it will be a cold day in hell when I don't have some form of protection on me that equalizes the situation.
