The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child is the first legally binding human rights treaty that defines the minimum standards for the rights of children. The UNCRC is comprised of 42 articles, only a few are touched upon in this video. In summary, the 42 articles state that ALL children have rights to survival, development, protection and participation/membership. The United States and Somalia are the only two members of the UN who have not ratified the UNCRC!
In America, children's right to have their basic needs met are being ignored! Ratification of the UNCRC is the first step in reversing child poverty rates in America. We need to recognize that our children are suffering and have the right to a healthy life. Everyone please spread awareness of the suffering of children in our own country and speak out to your legislators. Most importantly, ADVOCATE to have the UNCRC ratified for America's children because they are the future of this country!

  • Good Job on the video it is very powerful

  • It's seem that people here in the US, who think of the UNCRC as a threat to parental rights, are overlooking this treaty and all the positive changes that would very well come with it. A treaty that guarantees food, water, and shelter to children all across the country. A treaty that keeps children from starving and provides medical care. Who the hell wouldn't want that!? The US should ratify the UNCRC to reverse this growing problem of child poverty. And I proudly say that as an American!
