I've been on this ship many times. The feeling of stepping on the most decorated ship of WWII is too much to handle. It makes me think what happened, who served, who died. And how it is still with us is amazing, school kids saving money to keep it from being scrapped. This ship will forever be in my heart.

I wish that we had bought the USS Washington for a museum ship. It would be so awesome to go to Seattle or Bremerton and see her...

The ships off Okinawa in April of '45 were an impressive sight.
Somewhere around 327 ships. An all gun Navy was something to see.

@TheGorgeramirez Or hate war....
Don't forget her sister ship BB-56, everything done to the North Carolina, identical in every way, the Washington had done also. They never resolved the propeller shudder on either. My grandfather served as a gunners mate on the BB-56 from 1942 till they retired her. He had his hands on 16" shells that landed on Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, and sank the only Japanses battleship sunk by a US battleship. CPO James Bryant, 87 years old

The USS North Carolina was one of many brave ships that served this country proudly in WWII. She will always have a special place in my heart because my father served aboard her for almost 3 years during the Pacific campaign. He has passed, but the stories he began telling me as a child of being on board during the war will forever be a part of me. I still have many things that were his during the war including a dog tag, a uniform, and a diary he kept. All so priceless.
