British Airways is running a Technical Engineering Apprenticeship Programme, aimed at finding the engineering talent of the future.

This year, we will be looking for 120 students, recruited across four colleges: Kingston College, Brooklands College, Farnborough College of Technology and Uxbridge College.

After successfully completing the year at college, the students will have the opportunity to become full time employees of British Airways, based at Heathrow. They will then gain experience working across various engineering departments as well as attending College on a day release basis. There is then the opportunity to become a full-time mechanic with the airline.

The continuation of the apprenticeship scheme is part of a wider review of BA Engineering's drive to identify new talent and improve existing training opportunities. As part of a 'talent pipeline' BA plans to secure the recruitment and training needs of the department for years to come.

  • What is the process for non-EU persons? I am from Barbados and would love to do this apprenticeship if possible

  • @mikebim246 Please check with the colleges mentioned as to their requirements for entry on to their courses. Good luck

But its worth doing for me because its something I really want to get into. If you do choose to enrol on this course just try your best because you will get out what you put in. (:

  • @CallumWright96 Yes but I am unsure of the exact amount. Over the 2 years you will do 1 day a week at College and 4 days at Heathrow.

  • @767Dude Do you get paid while doing the 2 years?

  • @CallumWright96 I'm currently doing the course at Kingston College, and yes you do 1 year at college and if you pass all the required criteria and an interview at BA you will work at Heathrow for 2 years as an apprentice with 1 day a week at college.
