i hated his style and hair cut till the early 90s. That music was horrible and empty. Now he's become a musician.

@PearlMasterStudio713 TRUE DAT!!

here something about how to hit the drums with taste, not with all your force as many drummers think they should, this has a lot of shading and that comes out about hitting the drums softly and harder giving color to your solo or drumming

@sweetfly66 playing for 15 years gigging since i was 14. Its just not my cup of tea thats all. I much rather watch someone groove then solo(a majority of the time). Musicality is an opinion. It differs between people. I am just saying most open drum solos are extremely boring and drawn out. I like solos within a context of a song. But i think all of us can agree that weckl is a monster who has achieved far more then any of us can dream of.

@julianisdope ... are you a fairly young drummer ... i dont mean that as a putdown ... but this solo really is amazing . It is one musical phrase after the other ...phrasing is what seperates the men from the boys NOT CHOPS ...the ability to play sparsely and musically is so difficult ..its much easier to just sit down and shred than it is to play like this

@sweetfly66 i agree with him that if this wasn't weckl i would of turned it off quickly like most solos i watch.....but hey each to his own i guess

@senojelyk ....sorry that he doesnt play a million miles an hour in this ..sorry that he doesnt set himself on fire ..sorry he doesnt twirl his sticks .... but this solo is musical as hell ... it takes so much control to play like this .
I hate to say it but I see steptoesaunt's point. I know Weckl is a genius and my own drumming is dust before him, but how much of this solo would you have listened to if you didn't know it was Weckl playing? This exhibition has the feel of a lot of experimental jazz where the soloist sounds like he's just noodling around for 8, 12 or even 16 bars before the music seems to have any point to it. I've heard very few drum solos that I want to listen to more than once, and this isn't one of them.

@javierdrummer07 me refiero a que no mantiene ostinatos ni "frases" contínuas, más típicas. igual es una opinión subjetiva. Es un gran baterísta. Personalmente me gusta más escuchar a los musicos en conjunto y tanto soleando. Saludos
