A devastating power punch "A Chuck Liddell classic" demonstrated by Chris Greenman. Details on position, hips, movement, follow through. This punch is geared towards a seasoned fighter as it does open you up to several punches as we ahve recently seen on some UFC main events.

  • I'm going to go against the grain and point out the flaws in this punch. He's got the hip motion down, but to get full power in a punch, it has to start from your feet up. In can be performed many ones, for example pivoting. Also the hand positioning is all wrong. Why is he bring his hand down to his hip? Having an arc with elbows when you throw a hook is what gives the power, not the grip of your hand. You also left your whole right side of your face/body open.

  • I was waiting for someone to talk smack, thanks very much, perhaps you can come train me and show me how it is done? I love learning new things, not being sarcastic (for once)

  • Chris did any of your wrestling matches ever end up in a fight? I remember one story with a Cal State Fullerton guy Diaz? I guess you got called out for stalling and knocked him out? Now I see why he dropped

  • Wow, I can hear that hit over the ocean!! Remind me not to piss you off...haha. Very cool background, good approach, always different Mr. Greenman love it!

  • @K2ThaPhukkinC you are correct sir lol

  • Love this video, learned a lot and helped me, thanks

  • @cjgreenman how is this dude talking smack? he is totally 100 percent right

  • i'm not trying to be rude but won't that type of punch break your hand in a streetfight

  • No disrespect, but you have to step into your punch and really plant the front foot. If you don't drive through with the shot while turning your hips, you aren't getting all the power you can. Also, remember to really push down hard when you pivot off of the ball of your back foot. You probably know this by now though.

  • MMA Fighters are very cool, but when it comes to "Punching Power"...Boxers are the masters of the game. Just look at Iron Mike Tyson, he would never do these big movements with his arms when hitting you with a hook, uppercut or cross. His movements where kinda short, freakish powerful and precise.

  • love this video, great stuff

  • That's also how the overhand is used

  • Awesome Power Mr. Chris, very very good technique and postion

  • this strike seems nothing more than a Mexican hook except with a secure elbow and more rotation in the hips,it seems it was converted to mma from boxing.notice, these days how more and more other strikes and kicks from arts are being converted to mma form.mauy thai n boxing are still the core to stand up,but every now and then we are starting to see a 'tornado kick" finishing fighters, people would have never thought those Hollywood kicks would really work, but fighters of today just got smarter.
