Only that its not true. Pakistan was financed mostly from Saudi Arabia. And both Saudis and the Pakistani secret service financed the Taliban (mostly Pashtus) while the West helped all (!) kind of groups against the aggression of the Sowjets (with bad advice from the Pakistanis), fe also the ones under Shah Massud (who was killed shortly before 911 by the Taliban).
