click on almost any of the other ones when you enter "the lord bless you and keep you"...The Westminster Abbey version, etc. (I thought this one was the traditional song as well, since it was the one I learned in high school.
I can understand some folks wanting a more sober rendition of a sacred song, but at my age (I last sang this with my high school concert choir almost 40 years ago), it was very pleasant, even with a bit of giggling and fiun going on....
maybe i misunderstood your first comment...i personally sang this piece 40 years ago too, and still love it. actually, i am introducing this hymn in my Chinese broadcasting program this week. Many Chinese churches still use this hymn to close the Sunday worship service... This post made me think of the time of my youth choir time...i thank my Lord for giving me the joy of singing at church.
You are completely correct, and I apologize for my mistrake--I presumed because of the venues where Rutter's version was being played that his was the traditional, and we'd learned a newer version in high school (but since he was born in 1945, that's d*nmed unlikely, huh?)
It was very high school, and that's definitely not a compliment. Those 2 females laughing through the whole thing, especially the shortest one directly behind the mic completely ruined it for me, not the mention ruining whatever sanctity is supposed to be given through that song.
We used to sing this in school before every musical preformance and after every concert and we did this cool clap after ha ha! This was good brought back memories
