  • carl, how long did you make the barrel before it begins to taper down?

  • I can't remember I got the specs off Louisville Sluggers website.

  • great video! i work in a machine shop and was curious if youve ever tried to make a bat on an engine lathe with automatic feed. would i have to to feed the tools by hand? i dont have any wood lathe tools however i have unlimited access to all other kinds of metal cutting tools. after watching your video you have givin me a great idea to make a bat as a gift to my stepson for his birthday. any feedback would be so appreciated and thanks for sharing.

  • Hi,

I used Ash but I would go with Maple if I do another. You can find the blanks at Woodcraft. They make a lot of carbide cutters for gouges so I think you could find a metal cutter that will work.

    Good Luck,

    Carl

  • Carl: Great Project. My Daughter Abigail is requesting me to make her one so she can start playing Baseball with a bat made by her dad

  • Thanks, if you go to Louisville Sluggers website they have the dimensions for her age and level.

    Take care,

    Carl
