@PushN88 while it is taken slightly slower than other recordings that i have heard, this is the BEST i have heard the clarinet solo.

2 people couldn't hack it on the solo

@joker4121 We had our highest high school band play it, the soloist was, I believe, a junior. It was really good!! :D

@NotStuckJustResting You are certainly entitled to your opinion, Ellie, but I believe that the conductor's tempo is in line with Dr. Tichelli's intentions when he wrote the piece. I have heard faster recordings of it, but I don't think that this piece is supposed to be a race. It's not a contest. This is music.
The soloist is certainly capable of playing this piece much faster, but that's really not the point.

@PushN88 I just think it has so much more engery when it's faster. To me it makes it more naughty and fierce which is what it's about. Also, when my band played this in high school, my director actually contacted Mr. Techelli for advice. He told us to go faster than the tempo on the score and at one point said "the goal is to compel the audience to throw their clothes onto the stage."
You are also intitled to your opinion, however, I don't think it alines with Techelli's intentions.

@NotStuckJustResting Thank you for elaborating. Had the conductor known that the audience was going throw their clothes on the stage at a faster tempo, I'm sure that he would have obliged. (Ha ha.)
