Erin doesn't talk at all. They use them for hugging scenes, and, when she does talk, it's for Lindsay Lohan to tape.

Then she does the other, and then they put it all together, and get just Lindsay Lohan.

Ok Lindsay said in an interview she had her stunt double say all the other girls lines for example while lindsay played Hallie,Erin would say all of Annies lines cuz she said it got confusing for her to play comletely different characters so it helped her.Then they switched costumes and she did Annies part.

@minseon213 It's weird that you think of Lindsay as only playing 'Hallie', because I always thought of her the same way..'Annie' was always a secondary character for me, and Hallie was the lead played by Lindsay, but Annie could've just been anyone. That must sound really stupid lol! I guess it's just because I liked Hallie more.

Lindsay did play both people its just when they were hugging etc they had to use the other girl :)

What they did was the had erin playing hallie and lindsay playing annie then did it the other way round and cut lindsay playing both together.

@Parsomania Thanks, I have all three parent traps on VHS at home and i know the references very well....I still dont get WHY they used the Erin for lets say the oreo scene when clearly we can see Lindsay's face in the movie...

even the in the 60s, i dont get WHY they just didnt find twins to work with...

I think Disney wanted to pay homage to the original film with Hailey Mills, she played both twins in the original as well although the effects werent as good then. there is also another reference in the new film when one of them is singing "lets get together" under her breath in the lift. in the original it was a whole song that the twins did a duet

They film one as Hallie one as Annie then they do it the other was round then they cut Lindsay playing both parts together.
