  • However, these data were complied around 2005/06 and the video was made in '07, so data is likely to change. Even so, most of these occurrences go unreported, so it's most likely worse than what the statistics present. I did my research, please do yours next time.

  • Well, if you watched the video, you would see it says "Every two and a half minutes, someone is sexually assaulted," not rape. Rape is a form of sexual assault, but not entirely it. All the data from this video was compiled from RAINN (Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network) which compiled their statistics from the NCVS (National Crime Victimization Survey), which is from the Department of Justice.

  • As the filmmaker of this video, I cannot go on any longer without addressing these comments. Not only are comments as those immature and disrespectful, but they are the core of the problem. They are mindsets like those that yield crossing the line between words and acting on it. Either way, both of their energies produce the same violence. We need to eliminate ideologies like this.

  • And to those brave enough to share their experiences here, I commend you for sharing and admire your courage. We have the means to stop violence like this among other issues facing humanity. Please, stand up and take action. Thank you.

  • It was never the victim's fault. It doesn't matter if they were dressed very inappropriately or had no clothes on at all....it doesn't matter if they had too much to drink, how flirty they were....it is ALWAYS the perpetrator's fault. None of this gives the perpetrator the right or invitation to sexually assault.

  • if anyone is sexually offended, please report it. even if it doesnt go to court, it will be on record and can be brought up against the perp if they ever do it again.

  • @SaintsWillMarch here's why I don't agree. is a concious choice made by a rapist. Yes a person should be in charge of self protection but it's not always affective so even with proper prevention there is a chance at being raped. In the end, when it all comes down to it, it's a decision made by a mentally weak person. It rally isnt the fault of the survivor but the person making the decision. One they may or maynot do agai n

The only way to eradicate any type of crime, is to make [the target victims] unaccessible. The "it's not your fault!"-mantra is detrimental to this process, as it places all focus on protecting the victim emotionally [after] the attack, rather than proper prevention.

A feminist recently told me, that "it's not our job to protect ourselves from rape".

So don't. See if that works out.

It's not the rapist's "job" to protect his victims from himself. He rapes. It's what he does.
