this is a free transcription of the first Balkans piece i heard back a couple of years ago. It is by a Roumanian Gypsy composer Sepo Perapaskero and i transcribed it after the performance of Taraf de Haidouks. (well other than the introduction and the quotation from Dinicu's Lark). Comments are as always very welcome!

the musicians are: Carl Testa on double bass, Rachel Thompson and Sam Hyson on violins, Garrick Zoeter and myself on clarinets.

  • hey , what about notes? can't you remember these melodies? and in the biggining you can improvise.i don't remember when i saw someone plays on notes.i mean this style of music.

  • hey andrei!

i wrote out all the songs cause we only had 3-4 rehearsals beforehand and i couldn't expect my friends to learn all that music by heart in a few weeks. (they were way busy with their lives - i was extremely greatful that they learnt to play them from notes).

about improvisaton: can you really see what is written on those sheets of paper? :)

i play this music cause i love it. it was fun to play and for the people present it was fun to listen to - that's all, mate :)

  • Dude, ya're absolutely one fantastic musician.. Congs in billions. Keep your breathe throwing..

  • Thank you very much, efendi! :) I'm very glad that someone from Turkey likes it! :) Best!

    BUÉK neked is!
