@DeathWithinTenSteps Hip Hop isnt a music genre, its a culture......

As far as the few hip hop songs I listen to, I like "Don't Look Down" by Kanye West ft Lupe Fiasco, "The Show Goes On" by Lupe Fiasco , and I recently found a song by The Notorius BIG called "juicy" and I really enjoy that song. So, songs that are similar to those I can tollerate because of the actual meanings behind the songs, rather than them spewing random garbage about partying, drugs, and sex ect.. ect...

tell me what you listen to. i like metal too. why just listen to one genre right? i've been redescovering metal myself.
i like all kinds of music as long as it has some quality to it. it'd be cool to know what someone who generally doesn't appreciate hip hop likes.

@DeathWithinTenSteps Yeah the 98% really do set a very thick lining around the core of talented musicians. I'm a heavy-metal fan all of the way, and I can honestly say that any song speaking about pimps, money, cars, and drugs are a complete waste of my time. Although, I have found a very few select groups that I listen to on a regular basis. I suppose they are considered to be my "real hip/hop" . If you ask a different person, I suppose you will receive a different answer as to what you enjoy.

What i regard as "the real" hip hop community is also very much interested in music and musicality. Good hip hop music is only good because of what it stems from and respectable hip hop acts know this and they respect the roots of hip hop music.

I really do agree with you almost all the way. I do believe the number is closer too 98% though. I guess the "hidden talent" of the rappers would be the ability to write coherent lyrics with meaning and substance that actually does rhyme. A good rapper should also be a master of wordplay and "punchlining". Far from all rappers possess this ability though and that's what makes me sometimes feel ashamed of being a "hip hop head".
-
@DeathWithinTenSteps I'm a pretty opinionated guy, and I don't expect everyone to agree with me. It's fine with me if you don't, however, I'm sure we can both agree that 90% of the music you hear on the radio of the hip hop/rap genre is produced through the means of auto-tuning and synchronization. When I made this generalization, I was contrasting this instrumental performance to the typical rap song. If you feel that rappers possess "hidden" talents that I cannot see, enlighten me please.

ok batman i thought you were a little more open minded than that, i'll still read your comics though. anyhow, if you only hear retarded rappers like lil wayne i understand why you wouldn't wanna listen to hiphop music. There's a lot of rappers out there with musical talent. I'm not saying that's what this is but it's good anyway. /watch?v=qE1uAb-OPH8
