Still another version of Civilization the hit from 1947-48. Singer, Clarinetist, Big Band leader Woody Herman (b.1913 d.1987) started in vaudeville at age 15 as a saxophonist. Joined Isham Jones orchestra and became leader when Jones retired. Known as "The Band That Plays The Blues" and as "The Herd" their first recordings were for Decca in 1936. They continued under various incarnations (First Herd, Second Herd, Thundering Herd, etc.) through the 1980's.

  • Bland? I respectfully disagree!! This is the best version of this song!

  • @xxartisticxx That's great ! I'm glad you liked it.

  • I like it but it does not compare to the Andrew Sisters and Danny Kaye version in my opinion.

Thanks for posting though, all the music from that era is a pleasure to find on YouTube. =]

  • I saved this version for last 'cause it really is bland. I'm thinking of posting my "Open The Door Richard" collection. Got about 8 versions of that song.

  • @geofbrit59 Louise Prima's version of this song and "Open The Door Richard". Hmmm these two are songs from a film I happen to adore. Gonna go see if you added those "Open The Door Richard" tracks. =D

  • @xxartisticxx What movie is it that you adore.
