That was an honor to watch. Thanks.

Some people read too much into things. It's not meant to be a documentary. It's a TV commercial showing that Hovis bread has been around for a long time, using well known moments in British history to illustrate this. The young boy with the loaf of bread is the link. I think it's brilliant. Well directed, great special effects. I wonder what sort of ad the critics would have made.

For fucks sake everyone, it's an advert. It's not an abomination of life just because it chooses the warm happy emotional/sad/team spirit bits of British history and skips the atrocities. ITS AN ADVERT!

simply fantastic, make the hairs on my body stand up on end, please dont delete this you people at youtube....

Just a brilliant advert!
To all the young and idealistic posters to this... Let the nation that has not ever committed an atrocity of one type or another throw the first loaf of Hovis! Those nations that scream the loudest about the wrongs of other nations are only jealous that it was not their country committing the said atrocity themselves!
-
Would you feel so good about Britain and Hovis if the advert showed all the atrocities commited on foreign countries over the years of our Empire or the slave trade or the concentration camps we invented in South Africa during the Boer war, thats just a few, basically anyone that tries to evoke national pride is a dangerous idiot thats forced to conceal the dark side of a countrys past, either say nothing or say everything.

@highspeedgaz .....Lol, the British Governement sent millions of young men to certain death in WW1, denied women rights and beat the shit out of the miners and then some twat uses those images to sell bread and make us feel all yummy about Britain, maybe the dick that made this didnt know he was making propaganda but he was, and on top of that hes stirring up national pride which is basically what the Nazis did, Nationalism is an irrational blight on humanity that this advert encourages.
-
@highspeedgaz .......Firstly this so called good film has been created purely activate the nostalgia circuits of the audience and then by association equate those feelings to a loaf of bread, if thats not bollocks i dont know what is.
Also do you think that Hovis is made the same as it was 122 years ago, i doubt it, but thats the whole point of the adverstising industry, to make the banal beautiful and to associate the trivial with the important.

@bazeye , Power of propaganda , Its nothing to do with propaganda , its called the power of advertising , good advertising at that , its simple , a good story line and a great music backing track .
